Lando Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
Lando Norris has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the previous five grands prix.
The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and title rival the Australian for the quickest lap in the closing stages of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the title advantage from his teammate by a single point after winning in Mexico City recently, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, lying with a 36-point deficit Norris, finished in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a different programme.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to have an incident, though minor, when he lost control at Turn Four during the early running.
The Japanese slid over the curbs on exit before spinning across the gravel trap, and was fortunate to avoid just a slight brush of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the very end of the session, turning around through the quick descending corner approaching the final bend on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton ended the session in 19th place, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber third fastest, 0.619secs behind Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
